HSID Teacher Workshops

27 October 2016 - 8:45am to 3:00pm
UNSW Kensington Campus. John Niland Scientia Building (map ref: G20)

The HSID Teacher Workshops are the perfect opportunity for teachers to gain BOSTES accredited training while their students experience life as an Engineering Student at UNSW.

Teacher will gain ideas and resources to assist their teachingHeld in parallel with the UNSW Engineering High School Information Day (HSID), 3 x 1.5 hour workshops will provide professional development for STEM teachers (BOSTES approved), while their fully-supervised students are experiencing UNSW’s HSID.  Of course, teachers may register even if their students are not attending the Information Day!

The three 1.5 hour workshops will be led by scientists and engineers, experts in their fields, demonstrating how the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics taught every day in your school is actually used in their chosen disciplines.  Teachers will also gain ideas and resources to assist embedding these concepts into their classrooms.

The timing of each workshop is designed to coincide with the HSID program, so teachers can check on their students during breaks, if necessary.

UNSW staff will supervise students (as normal) during the HSID, leaving teachers free to attend these sessions and both morning tea and lunch are provided.

TEACHERS CAN REGISTER HERE

Students can attend the Faculty of Engineering's High School Information Day, which runs along side the HSID Teacher Workshops. Simply follow the link to find out more and register for the High School Information Day.
