Women in STEM: METS Career Pathways

24 August 2017 - 5:30pm to 7:00pm
Engineering Design Studio, Level 5 Ainsworth (J17)

The Mining Equipment, Technology and Services (METS) Sector is looking for you!

The METS sector is one of Australia’s best kept secrets: we employ 3 times as many people as the mining sector, are the source of 75% of all innovation within mining and we are a dynamic, agile and exciting industry. METS is currently facing a shortage of female employees with a STEM background. This is where you come in.

Austmine is the industry body for the METS Sector, and we’ve partnered with METS Ignited (the Federal Government growth centre for METS), leading METS companies and UNSW, to create the Austmine Women in STEM: METS Career Pathway Program.

This program is a 4-month program that will provide you with online coaching and industry insights, access to an online network of your peers and potential employers and, most importantly, a ten week paid internship within one of our member companies. Many degrees require practical, on the job, experience in order to graduate, and if you’re successful in your application to Austmine’s program – you’ll get just that.

This information session is open to all all female second, third and fourth years students, currently studying any STEM subject. You will hear from women working in the METS sector, who have a STEM background and have the chance to ask them about their careers, challenges faced and overcome and the opportunities they’ve been offered. Participating employers in the program will also be in attendance for you to network with and speak to.
